This 12-inch straight handle tube, Kirby part 170058, is the lower handle section used across the older Kirby uprights: the 505 through 519, the 560, 561 and 562, the Sanitronic VII, the D50 and D80, and the Classic 1CR, Omega 1CB, Classic III 2CB and Tradition 3CB.

The lower tube carries every push, pull and lift the machine gets, and on machines this old it is damage rather than wear that finishes it. A bend from a fall down the stairs, a crack at a fixing point, or corrosion at the joint throws the handle out of line and makes the vacuum steer badly and feel wrong in the hand.

Fitting a straight tube brings the handle geometry back to where it should be. Kirby handle tubes are long lived, so a machine with one bad section is usually well worth the repair.
