The 116311 is a peripheral-exhaust motor. Lamb classifies its motors by discharge type, and a peripheral motor vents around the circumference of the fan housing instead of through the single side outlet a tangential motor uses, so the two are not interchangeable even when the housings look alike. Lamb Ametek built it as the replacement for four earlier part numbers: 117556, 117110, 116883, and 116457. It is sold here as part 202TF.

Its rating is the gentlest in this group, 245 air watts at 7.6 amps, with 95 CFM and 91.2 inches of sealed suction from two stages in a 5.7 inch housing. Check the supply before you buy, because this one is a 110-120 volt part while much of the surrounding 116xxx range is built for 220-240 volt systems. Kenmore, Central Vac Int. and Fasco units are listed as taking it.

If your central vacuum power unit currently carries any of those four earlier numbers on the motor housing, the 116311 is the correct replacement. Watch for the usual wear signs: a breaker that trips repeatedly, an electrical smell, sparking near the top of the motor, or suction that cuts out and returns on its own.
