A through-flow Lamb motor on ball bearings, part 119997-41, in the 5.7-inch frame and rated for 120 volts. Through-flow means the air the machine is moving passes over the motor and cools it, the arrangement used in most upright and canister vacuums as opposed to the bypass motors fitted to central vacuum units.
Because the cooling depends on airflow, a blocked hose or a full bag on a through-flow machine is not just a performance problem. It starves the motor of cooling air and shortens its life.
Replace the motor when suction has faded, running has turned intermittent, noise has climbed, or there is a burning smell. Match the frame size, voltage and bearing type to the motor you are removing and check the number stamped on it. Professional installation is recommended.
