This kit rebuilds the switch in the handle of a Plastiflex pistol grip central vacuum hose. Part SHSGEZHR01 supplies the low-voltage switch, a 24-volt two-position type, together with the harness it wires into.
The handle switch is what starts and stops the power unit from wherever you happen to be standing, and it gets pressed every single time the hose is used. Contacts wear, the harness chafes where it passes through the grip, and the result is a vacuum that has to be coaxed into starting, that shuts itself off mid-room, or that ignores the handle entirely while still running fine when switched at the inlet.
Replacing switch and harness together is the repair that lasts, since a new switch on a tired harness usually fails again before long. Isolate the power unit before opening the handle.
