The lower base is the underside shell of the power nozzle: it cradles the brush roll, sets the cleaning height and takes every scrape along the floor. Part 155155 covers a wide spread of central vacuum heads, including the Beam BM1176, the Eureka 045416 and the 645398 Aero III, the Butler and Classic nozzles, the Eureka CV190A, the Nutone 599 and the M&S Filtex MS1199.
Bases crack from impacts and warp from heat. Either way the brush roll stops sitting parallel to the floor, so you get a strip down the middle that cleans and edges that do not, along with a nozzle that rocks or catches as you push it.
Because the same base spans several brands, check yours against the list rather than the badge on the front. These nozzles were sold under a number of names.
