Current for the power head on an AUTOMATIC X7 or X8 has to cross the swivel neck, the joint that lets the body lean and steer while the nozzle stays flat on the floor. The male contact holder is the moulded carrier that keeps the pins on that side of the joint located, spaced and pointing the right way as the neck articulates. Once it works loose, or the pin seats open up, drive to the brush roll turns intermittent and the fault usually tracks the handle: fine when the machine is upright, dead when it is laid over to reach under a bed.
