Product details
Part F27 is a male spade terminal in the 1/4 in. tab size, sized for 14-16 AWG wire. It is one half of a male/female quick-disconnect pair: crimped onto a wire, it gives the mating female terminal something to grip onto, letting a connector be separated for service work instead of cut and re-terminated.
Powr-Flite specifies this terminal at a .032 in. tab thickness, which is what a mating female terminal needs to grip correctly. Mixing tab thicknesses is a common cause of a connection that looks seated but pulls apart under vibration, and on equipment that runs on wheels or gets carried around a job site, vibration is a daily event rather than an occasional one.
A crimp connection is only as good as the crimp itself. After crimping, give the wire a firm tug by hand: it should not pull free of the barrel, and the insulation grip behind the barrel should hold the jacket without biting into bare copper. A terminal that spins loosely on the wire was crimped too lightly and should be cut off and redone.
- Part number: F27
- Style: male spade tab
- Tab size: 1/4 in.
- Tab thickness: .032 in.
- Wire range: 14-16 AWG
Before crimping, strip enough insulation that the wire fills the barrel with no loose strands sticking out, seat it with a ratcheting terminal crimper rather than pliers, and tug-test the finished connection to confirm the crimp collar has fully closed around the jacket rather than around bare wire. Ships to you in 2-5 business days. Verified against: Powr-Flite product page for F27
