Product details

Canplas's medium 90-degree ell, part 765508W, is a standard hub-to-hub elbow for central vacuum PVC piping, sized between the tight-radius extra-short ell and the long-sweep 90 in Canplas's Hayden line.

Fitting choice matters more in a central vacuum run than most homeowners expect. A sharper elbow at the wrong point in a run creates a pinch where suction drops off and where debris is more likely to snag on its way to the canister. A medium ell is the middle ground: enough of a turn to route pipe around framing without the extra drag of an unnecessarily tight bend, which matters most on longer runs where several fittings add up.

It solvent-welds into standard central vacuum PVC pipe the same way any other hub fitting does. Dry-fit the elbow before cementing it, since central vac PVC sets with standard purple primer and solvent cement, and once a joint is made there is no adjusting it afterward. Support the pipe on both sides of the fitting while the joint cures rather than letting the weight of an unfinished run hang on a fresh weld.

If a wall inlet or a run in the piping plan is already using a tighter elbow than it needs, swapping in a medium ell at that point is a simple way to recover some lost airflow without re-running the whole section. Keep the fitting dry and free of debris before gluing, since anything trapped in the joint weakens the weld.

  • Part: 765508W, Canplas medium 90-degree ell
  • Use: central vacuum PVC piping, mid-radius corner turn
  • Install: standard solvent-weld PVC joint, dry-fit before cementing
  • Choose over: an extra-short ell for tight spaces, a long-sweep ell for maximum airflow
