Metal hood for the Sanitaire 888 and 899 commercial uprights, part 540981 — the version without a headlight opening. Metal is what makes this one worth having: the steel shell survives the daily collisions that split a plastic hood.

The hood covers the motor and fan housing and locates the components underneath it. A dented shell, a cracked mounting tab or a missing hood leaves the motor and wiring exposed to debris and lets parts sit out of alignment, which shows up as rattle and premature wear inside.

Order the no-headlight version only if your machine has no lamp at the front, as the two are not interchangeable. It is also listed for the Sanitaire 7732. Set the hood over the housing and fasten every mounting point so it sits flush.
