SEBO Noise Limiting Cover for AIRBELT E1, E2 and E3 Canisters

When an AIRBELT E turns louder with age, the motor is usually innocent. What has normally happened is that the acoustic panel above it has cracked, shed a mounting point, or been left out after a service. 8220ER is that panel — SEBO's noise limiting cover, listed as item 12 on the drawing for this range — and it is listed for the AIRBELT E1 KOMBI, the AIRBELT E2 TURBO and the AIRBELT E3 Premium.

It is a contoured moulding sitting across the motor bay, and its shape is the working part: the profile traps and redirects noise from the motor and from the air rushing past it. Years of heating and cooling leave the plastic brittle enough that one drop, or one over-enthusiastic reassembly, snaps a fixing. From then on the panel either drums against the body under load or ends up in a drawer, and the canister is permanently noisier than it was built to be.

The number people get wrong

Items 12 and 13 sit side by side on the sheet and both describe something covering the motor. Item 12 is this part, the noise limiting cover, 8220ER. Item 13 is a separate component printed as the motor cover under number 8289ER. Between them at item 11 is the motor support, 8045ER, and beneath the group at item 9 is the motor itself, 8243ER, which covers the same three canisters as this panel. Ordering by item number rather than by the phrase "motor cover" makes the mix-up impossible.
