Blue sits in the middle of the pad range and is the one most floors actually want. It scrubs harder than a red pad without the cut of black, which makes it the right choice for routine scrubbing on hard floors and for light stripping where the finish is thin rather than built up.
What goes wrong with a scrub pad is not that it wears thin but that it glazes. The open texture that grips and lifts soil fills and flattens, and from then on the machine is polishing dirt into the floor rather than removing it, so the floor comes up shiny and still dirty.
