Product details
Part 190024 replaces the outer cloth shell on a Kirby Heritage II or Legend, and it carries the front zip pocket named in the listing, a place for a tool or a spare bag rather than leaving either one loose in a closet somewhere.
Nothing about how these fail is sudden. Fabric wears thin where it rubs against door frames and stair edges, a seam eventually opens, the main zipper begins skipping teeth, or the material simply loads up with decades of fine dust until air stops moving through it at all. That last failure mode hides well, since the machine feels sluggish and swapping in a new paper bag inside it changes essentially nothing.
Fitting a new shell puts the filtering and the airflow right in a single move, and on an older Heritage it does more for how the machine presents than any other single part would. Inspect the pocket zipper on its own, separately from the main closure, since the two see very different amounts of use over the life of the bag, and a pocket zipper that has given out does not by itself mean the rest of the shell is finished. Fit the new shell with the machine unplugged and the paper bag taken out first, and look the fabric over along its full length before it goes on rather than finding a fault weeks later.
