Height selection on an ET-1 or ET-2 head runs through a single mechanism, and 2316GS is that mechanism complete in gray black. It governs how far the brush drops toward the floor, so the bristles reach into the pile on carpet without the nozzle pinning itself down on deep pile or riding too high to make contact on a short weave.
Because it is supplied as an assembly rather than as loose linkage pieces, it goes in as a unit and there is nothing to align on the bench first. SEBO lists it at position 107 in the ET 1 / ET 2, DART and FELIX diagrams. Order one when a setting refuses to hold, when the selector moves without changing anything, or when the nozzle stays at one height whatever the control says. A related complaint is a head that has become hard to push on one particular floor covering, which usually means the mechanism has dropped to its lowest position and stuck there.
Before ordering, take the head off the wand and check that nothing is simply jammed with debris, since packed hair around the linkage mimics a failed mechanism. If the selector still moves freely but the brush height never changes, the linkage itself has given up.
