This Compact plastic lock is the retainer for a stud-type caster, matched to the Compact 7920 and similar canisters. The lock clips over the caster stud to hold the wheel captive in its socket while still letting it swivel freely.
When the lock cracks or breaks, the caster works loose and can drop out of its socket, leaving the vacuum sitting unevenly and hard to steer. A fresh retainer snaps the caster back into place for stable, secure rolling.
