This Plastiflex short 90-degree elbow makes a right-angle turn in central vacuum tubing within minimal depth, the fitting installers reach for wherever a full-radius sweep elbow has no room to fit inside a tight stud bay behind an inlet valve.
A tighter turn radius means more resistance to airflow and a greater chance debris hangs up in the bend, so this elbow earns its place only where space forces the issue. Most installers reserve it for the last connection directly behind an inlet and switch to sweep elbows for every other turn along the run, wherever there is room for the gentler curve.
However it is used, the joint has to be airtight. Central vacuum performance depends on every fitting in the run holding its seal, since a leak at one elbow bleeds suction from every inlet in the house. Solvent-weld or slip-fit the connection as your piping calls for, and confirm the fitting matches your system's tubing diameter before cutting into the wall.
Every direction change in a tubing run costs some airflow, and a tight-radius elbow like this one costs more than a gentle sweep does.
