Product details
Light gray and supplied ready to drop in, 2438HG is the full push-button sub-assembly for the SEBO Duo, listed at position 44 in the machine parts diagram. It is the control surface a thumb lands on, seated in the housing so its travel stays square.
Buttons fail two ways. The plastic splits around the shaft, usually starting as a hairline that only shows when the button is pressed, or the action goes mushy and the button no longer stands proud of the housing. Either way the press stops being definite, and on a control operated without looking, that ambiguity is the whole problem. Because this part arrives built up rather than as loose pieces, the repair is a straight exchange with no fiddling to align internals or to hold small components in place while the housing closes.
The return spring behind the button is a separate item at position 45, part 2423, and it is worth fitting at the same time. A tired spring will make a brand new button feel just as vague as the old one, and the two are only a few minutes apart once the machine is open. Clean the recess the button sits in while it is accessible, since grit in the bore will drag on a new assembly exactly as it did on the old one.
