Fifty feet reaches most homes from just one or two outlets, a range the Avalir's design leans on heavily, so a failing cord takes away more usable reach on this machine than it would on a shorter-corded upright.
Damage concentrates at the two points that flex hardest: the plug end, worn by being yanked from the wall instead of released by the plug itself, and the machine end, which bends every time the handle changes position during use.
