Product details
A ProHeat 2X Revolution that vacuums normally, with the brush turning and the recovery tank pulling water back in just fine, but never actually sprays cleaning formula onto the carpet almost always points to the pump rather than the motor or the tanks. Part 1609212 is that solution pump assembly, built for the 1548 family (1548, 15482, 15483, 1548L, 1548P, 1548Q, 1548R, 1548T, 1548U), the 1550 family (1550, 15503, 15508), and the 1551.
This pump pulls cleaning solution from the clean-water tank and feeds it out onto the carpet ahead of the brush. When it fails, everything downstream of it keeps working normally, which is exactly why the fault gets mistaken for something else the first time it shows up.
Dried formula and mineral scale are the usual cause of a seized or weak pump, building up gradually inside the pump body whenever formula sits in the lines between cleaning sessions instead of being flushed out. Running a tank of plain water through the machine at the end of each use is the simplest way to keep a healthy pump healthy going forward.
Disconnect the machine from power and empty the clean and dirty tanks before you open the housing to reach the pump, and hand the job on if working inside the housing is not something you are comfortable doing, since the pump sits close to wiring that should stay dry through the swap.
