Floor buffer pads split broadly into polishing pads that bring up shine and stripping pads that cut through built-up wax, and this is the second type. This pair of six-inch scrubbing pads, finished in green, ships as part 4501045 (Koblenz also numbers them 2420), along with retainer clips.
The coarse, open scrubbing surface is built for floors carrying real soil or old wax buildup that a lighter pad would only gloss over rather than remove. Where a lambswool or felt pad leaves a shine on top of what is already there, a green scrubbing pad cuts that surface down until a fresh coat of finish has something to grip, which makes it a job for a strip-and-refinish visit rather than routine maintenance.
Wood floors are not a fit for this pad, it will scuff a wood finish rather than clean it. On any hard floor whose finish is uncertain, run the pad over a small section first, since the same aggressive surface that lifts old wax cleanly on one floor can dull a softer or thinner finish on another.
Most six-inch home buffers accept these, including Koblenz's P620, P820, P1800, P2500 and P2600 models, plus Kenmore, Regina and Black & Decker units built around six-inch pads. Replace them once the fibers pack down and mat, or once the pad no longer bites into soil the way it did new.
