Flat ribbon cable fails where it folds. Part 864 is the ribbon link that carries signals between the printed circuit board and the computer controller on SEBO G series machines, and when a conductor fractures inside that crease the symptoms read like a dead controller rather than a broken wire.
That is what makes it worth checking first. A fracture inside the fold behaves as a fault that tracks with movement rather than with time or temperature: the machine runs, is nudged, and stops; it works perfectly on the bench and misbehaves in service; controls ignore inputs one moment and answer the next. Before a board is condemned, unseat the ribbon at both ends and look closely along the fold line and at the exposed contact pads, which oxidise and can be a fault on their own. Renewing the cable is a small job next to pulling boards out of the machine, and it rules the wiring out for good.
