    Idler pulley spring for Riccar and Simplicity uprights on the MV platform, supplied in the revised design. The spring loads the idler pulley against the drive belt and holds the tension that keeps the belt tracking and driving the brushroll without slipping.

    A stretched or broken spring shows up as a belt that squeals, walks off its pulley, or lets the brushroll stall under load in deep carpet. It costs little and is worth replacing any time the belt is already off the machine.
