R27D, the Riccar Clean Air Deluxe, is the corded bagged upright in the R27 family, running triple-stage filtration that pairs a HEPA media bag with a charcoal layer to hold 99.97 percent of dust, allergens and odors down to 0.3 microns.
Bagged uprights have a real advantage over bagless designs when allergies are a concern. Emptying a bagless cup stirs up whatever was just captured, right at the moment you are standing closest to it, while pulling a sealed bag and dropping it straight into the trash avoids that exposure. The tradeoff is the ongoing cost of bags, which is worth weighing against how often the household actually vacuums.
Hardware on this one is aimed at longevity rather than gadgetry. The brushroll is metal, the belt is a lifetime belt carrying a jam sensor that cuts drive rather than letting a stuck roller cook the belt, and the floating nozzle sets its own height as you cross from carpet to hard floor.
