Foam motor cover filter for MV-series upright vacuums, part B480-5200. This is the sponge panel that sits under the motor cover and screens the air moving through the motor compartment, catching carbon dust and any fine debris that slipped past the bag before it can reach the fan or blow back out through the exhaust.
Foam filters clog quietly. They rarely fail outright, they just pack solid with grey dust, and the machine loses airflow a little at a time until it is noticeably weaker than it was.
