Left-hand motor cover seal in black for MV-platform Tandem Air uprights. The seal runs along the edge of the motor cover and closes the gap between the cover and the vacuum body, so suction air is pulled through the motor path instead of leaking in at the joint. Sealing here is what keeps airflow at the nozzle where it belongs.
Foam and rubber seals compress permanently over the years, tear when a cover is pried off, and go brittle from motor heat. A flattened seal is a common and easily missed cause of gradual suction loss on an otherwise healthy machine.
