Part 2JR0016000 is the replacement motor for the Royal RY6500 commercial lightweight upright, and it also serves the Royal and Dirt Devil CP1000 and HD650. It drives the fan that makes the suction, and on these machines the belt that turns the brush roll as well.

Motors on commercial lightweights die from hours rather than years, and the warning signs come in a sequence. Brushes wear and the machine starts sparking at the commutator, bearings dry and the pitch turns rough, then the motor either stops or begins tripping the circuit. By the time it smells hot, it is finished.

It is the most expensive single part on the machine and still a fraction of a new one, which is why crews keep rebuilding these. The swap involves mains wiring and mounting work, so hand it to a technician.
