Royal fits a cover plate over the on/off switch on its commercial upright vacuums to hold the switch square in its opening while keeping the control itself within easy reach. Part 1870130P00 is the direct replacement for that cover.
Without it, or with it cracked, the switch has nothing keeping it seated firmly in the housing. Dust and debris from a commercial floor work their way in around the exposed terminals, and the switch itself starts to feel wobbly or unreliable under a normal press, even when the electrical connection underneath is still intact. Fitting a sound cover restores that firmness and keeps grit away from the contacts.
Fits a wide span of Royal commercial upright models, among them the 1018Z, 1020, 1025, 1028Z, 1030Z, 1038Z, 1040, 1058Z, 1059Z, 2000, 2008, 2075, 2075RH, 3008, 4000, 4000RH, RY8100, RY8200, RY8300, RY8400, RY8500, and RY8600. The compatibility list is long, but it is not universal, so match your machine's full model number against it rather than assuming fit from the general series name or the machine's outward appearance. While the plate is off, glance at the switch connections themselves: they should be tight and free of buildup before the new cover goes on, since a cover can only protect a connection that is sound to begin with.
