Sanitaire calls the nozzle housing on its SC887 commercial upright the Quick Kleen base, and part 5572628 is the full replacement for it once the original cracks or the brush roll seal along its edge fails.
This single molded piece carries three separate jobs on the machine at once: it shields the motor and drive hardware sitting above it from debris, it forms the sealed air channel that pulls dirt up through the nozzle, and it holds the brush roll in the correct position to agitate carpet. A crack anywhere in the base compromises all three functions together, which is why pickup can fall off noticeably on these machines even when the motor is running strong.
A technician replacing the base is also well positioned to look over the brush roll and its bearings while the machine is already apart, since coming back for them later means opening everything up a second time.
Fits the Sanitaire SC887. Note that the SC887E variant takes a different base entirely, so check the exact suffix on your rating plate before ordering rather than going by the SC887 model family alone.
