The Sanitaire base assembly (Part #20-7809-07) is a red new-style nozzle base housing for the SC886 and SC888 commercial uprights. The base forms the floor of the cleaning head and sets the height at which the brush roll meets the carpet. This replacement is also cataloged under alternate part #21-7817-37.
A cracked or warped base plate lets the brush roll sit too high or too low, which cuts carpet contact and leaves debris behind. Distorted geometry also wears the brush unevenly and can make the machine harder to push. Installing the correct new-style base restores flat, even brush engagement across the full width.
