Sealed bearings are consumable items, and 52131 is the one SEBO lists for the AUTOMATIC X8. Its seals hold carpet dust and fine grit out of the races, which is what allows a bearing inside a vacuum cleaner to run for years with no attention at all.
Failure is gradual and, fortunately, audible. The grease dries, the seal hardens, and the bearing goes from silent to a faint whine and then to a rumble you can feel through the handle before you can clearly hear it. Left alone past that point it adds drag to whatever it carries and starts to wear the shaft it runs on, which turns a small replacement into a larger one. The check takes a moment: with the machine unplugged, turn the bearing by hand. Roughness you can feel through your fingertips, or any side-to-side play in the race, confirms it is due.
Be clear about which part you need before ordering. This is the bearing on its own. If the housing around it is damaged as well, SEBO catalogues the complete left-hand bearing block for the same machine as 52121, supplied with its bearing already assembled into it. Belt 5110 is the one running to that end of the roller, and a bearing that has been dragging for a while will usually have taken the belt with it, so inspect both together.
It is also worth separating bearing noise from belt noise before you order anything, because the two are easy to confuse. Belt noise tends to be a squeal or a chirp that changes when the machine is tipped or the roller is loaded against carpet; bearing noise is a lower rumble that carries on regardless of what the roller is doing and is present the moment the machine is switched on. A bearing that has failed will also feel notchy when turned by hand with the belt slipped off, which a belt problem never does.
