SEBO Contact Holder for G Series Swivel Neck

Power reaches the cleaning head of a G Series upright through contacts carried in the swivel neck, and part 2883 is the holder those contacts sit in. SEBO lists it as the male contact holder at position 104 in the ESSENTIAL G4 and G5 parts diagram.

Its job is purely to hold position. The contacts themselves do the conducting; the holder is what keeps them parallel, at the right depth, and pointing where their mating halves expect to find them. Get that geometry wrong by a millimetre and the electrical connection becomes a matter of luck rather than design.

The neck flexes every time the machine is reclined or steered, so the holder and its contacts absorb constant movement across the life of the vacuum. Once it loosens or splits, the contacts sit out of line and brush power comes and goes as the handle is worked. The classic description is a roller that stops when the machine is laid flat and restarts when it is stood up, or one that flickers as you sweep from side to side.

Fitting it is fine electrical work in a tight space, so photograph the layout before anything is disturbed and note which contact goes where. Unplug the machine first and leave it unplugged for the whole job, and if any of that sounds unfamiliar, hand the neck to a vacuum technician.
