SEBO Upper Wand Release Button for D1, E1 and E2 AIRBELT Canisters

The button at the top of the wand is what frees the telescopic section and lets a tool come away. On the SEBO D1, E1 and E2 canisters that button is part 1735ER, and SEBO's own AIRBELT E parts diagram lists it at position 36 as the complete release button.

It is a small assembly doing a mechanical job: press it, a catch withdraws, and the joint that was locked a moment ago slides apart. Because it is worked every time a crevice tool goes on, a floor head comes off or the wand is shortened to reach under a radiator, it sees more cycles in a year than almost anything else on the machine.

Two things go wrong with it. The spring behind the button tires, so the wand grips hard enough to fight you and the button no longer stands proud the way it did. Or the plastic cracks, and then the catch lets go at the wrong moment and a tool drops off mid-clean. A button that has gone soft under the thumb, or that needs to be wiggled rather than pressed, is telling you which one has happened.

Fitting one is small-parts work. The spring and the button have to go back in the right order, and the catch needs to be free to travel before the assembly is closed up again. Work over a tray rather than a carpet, since anything that escapes at this stage is the size of a fingernail.
