Losing the panel over the exhaust filter leaves the element free to shift in its pocket, and once it moves, fine dust finds the gap around the edge instead of passing through the media. Part 5711GW is the white cover that replaces that panel on SEBO X4 and X5 uprights.
It clips over the exhaust compartment, holds the post-motor filter down against its seat, and directs the cleaned air out of the back of the machine. It also finishes the rear of the housing, so a cracked or absent one is obvious at a glance rather than something you have to hunt for. The failure modes are the ordinary ones for a clipped plastic part on an appliance that gets knocked about: a clip snapped during a filter change, a crack across the face after the machine went over on the stairs, or the cover simply lost somewhere after a service and never refitted.
Running without it is worse than it looks. The exhaust filter is the last stage before air returns to the room, and an element that is not held flat loads unevenly and lets a proportion of the airflow past its edge entirely. That is the whole sealed-system principle undone by a missing clip-on panel. The replacement snaps on without tools, so there is no reason to leave it.
