Sharp Handle Release Lever ...

Product details
The handle release lever on a Sharp EC-TU2603 is the pedal you step on to unlock the handle and lay the machine back, and part 86-6606-67 replaces it.
It is a small plastic lever under constant foot pressure, and it fails one of two ways: it cracks at the pivot, so the handle drops free and flops as you push, or it stiffens up until the handle refuses to recline at all. Either way the vacuum becomes awkward to use long before anything else on it has worn out, and it is a cheap part to be beaten by.
Expect to take the lower housing off to reach the mount, so have a screwdriver ready and keep track of the small parts around the pivot as it comes apart.
