SEBO Motor Sound Insulation for FELIX and DART Uprights

A quiet upright is mostly a matter of what surrounds the motor rather than the motor itself. 7098 is the shaped sound insulation SEBO packs around the suction motor in the FELIX Premium, the FELIX 2 Premium and the DART, and it is specified for use with the 7041ER motor.

The motor sits in the lower body behind its own seal, drawing through the pre-motor filter and exhausting out the back of the machine. The insulation is what stops that assembly from turning the body shell into a sounding board. It is compressed in place from new, so by the time a motor is being changed the insulation has usually taken a permanent set, and any that has been soaked in bearing oil or torn on the way out will not damp anything once refitted. Machines that come back from a motor job noticeably louder than they went in are very often machines that got their old insulation back.

SEBO's drawings put the motor seal 1047 immediately alongside the motor, item 7 on the FELIX sheet and item 8 on the DART sheet; the carbon brush set for that motor is 05140S; and the pre-motor filter guarding it is 7012AM. All are listed for the same three uprights, and all cost a fraction of a second teardown.
