Product details
The Plastiflex SV8062 stop coupling joins two lengths of 2-inch-outside-diameter central vacuum pipe end to end, with a molded internal ridge that stops either pipe from sliding too far into the fitting. That ridge is what separates it from a plain slip coupling: both pipe ends land at the same seated depth every time, so the joint lines up consistently whether one installer does it once or fifty times on a job.
This fitting turns up on nearly every central vacuum job, lengthening a straight section, splicing a damaged span back together, or tying a new pipe run into an existing network already behind the walls. Each joint it forms is also a place suction can leak out if the cement job gets rushed, so a coupling that seats the same way every time makes for a more dependable seal than one an installer has to eyeball into position.
It is sized for pipe at the 2-inch outside-diameter standard, the dimension most residential systems are built around. Dry-fit the run before cementing, then solvent-weld both ends so the joint stays airtight for the life of the system.
Because the internal stop is molded into the fitting, there is no need to measure or mark an insertion depth the way a plain slip coupling sometimes requires. That built-in consistency matters most on a job with several couplings going in back to back, where a missed depth on even one joint can throw off the alignment of everything downstream of it.
