Steering an upright depends on the neck joining the handle tube to the base, and on a SEBO 300 MECHANICAL or 350 MECHANICAL that same joint also carries the two-wire supply down to the cleaning head. Part 50448HG is that assembly supplied whole in light gray, so the pivot and the wiring run are renewed together.

Wear here reads as heavy or notchy steering, or as power at the head that cuts in and out while the handle is swung side to side. The second symptom is the one to act on quickly, because it means a conductor inside the neck is flexing across a break, and an intermittent connection under load is not something that improves on its own. Patching one half of the problem rarely holds for long; a full neck restores the mechanical joint and the electrical path in a single fitting.

The neck is carried in the chassis by a support on each side, and SEBO lists those separately: 50439ER is the left-hand swivel neck support and 50440ER the right-hand one. If either has spread or cracked, a new neck will not sit square and the fresh joint will wear just as fast as the old one, so both deserve a look while the machine is open. The suction hose that runs alongside the neck is part 5040SB, and the drive belt underneath it on these machines is 5110.
