Inside a SEBO 370 series machine or a SEBO DUO, part 502 is the small insulated block that brings a pair of conductors together at one fixed junction and keeps them isolated from the metal and moulding around them. It is an unglamorous component that quietly carries everything the machine runs on.
Terminal blocks fail quietly as well. Vibration from the motor slowly backs a connection off, heat discolours the terminal, and what is left is a high-resistance joint that warms under load and drops power in and out. The symptoms read as something far more serious: a machine that cuts out when the cord is moved, a burning smell around the body, intermittent running that resolves itself the moment you go looking for it. A block showing scorch marks, browned plastic or a cracked body is a replacement item, not something to re-tighten and hope for. A new block puts the pair of conductors back onto clean, tight metal, and the resistance at that junction drops back to where it belongs.
Because the block itself is inexpensive and the labour to reach it is the same whether you replace it or merely inspect it, most people who have the machine open change it anyway. It is also worth remembering that a block is only ever as good as the conductors landing in it: a terminal that has already cooked once has usually taken the insulation and the copper with it, and replacing the block without dressing the wire ends back to clean metal simply hands the new part the same problem.
- Fits: SEBO 370 series machines and the SEBO DUO
- Type: two-wire terminal block
- Function: ties a pair of conductors into one insulated junction
- Replace when: the block is scorched, cracked, or no longer holds a tight connection
- Part number: 502
Unplug the machine before going anywhere near it, note which conductor lands where, and trim back any wire ends that have gone dark before reconnecting. If the fault turns out to be switching rather than the junction, the two-pole power switch shared by the DUO and the X and G series machines is SEBO 5113. Genuine SEBO 370 series terminal block, DUO wiring repair part 502, ships in 2-5 business days.
