Product details
Part 8104-01 is the dirt separation cone inside the Titan TCS-5525 and TCS-8575 power unit. Incoming air carrying dirt and debris spins through the cone before it ever reaches the motor, and the cone shape is what keeps heavier material moving down toward the collection bag or bin instead of tumbling back up into the airstream.
Separation happens because the cone narrows the airflow path and forces a spin, and centrifugal force throws the denser debris outward against the cone wall while the lighter air continues on toward the filter. A cracked or misaligned cone lets some of that debris bypass the collection point and travel straight to the filter media, which is what shows up later as a filter that clogs faster than it used to even though nothing else about the system changed.
The cone works purely on geometry and airspeed, with no moving parts and nothing to wear out under normal use, which is why a cracked or chipped cone is almost always the result of impact damage from a hard object pulled through the pipe rather than ordinary age. Vacuuming up screws, small hardware, or gravel is the most common cause of a damaged cone, so a sudden increase in how much fine dust reaches the filter after picking up debris like that is worth checking against this part.
- Part: Titan 8104-01, dirt separation cone
- Fits: Titan TCS-5525, TCS-8575
- Function: spins incoming debris away from the airstream before it reaches the filter
- Replace when: the cone is cracked, warped, or no longer seats fully against its housing
Inspect the cone whenever the unit is opened for a filter or bag change. A cone that no longer seats tightly is easy to miss during a quick look but shows up over weeks as faster filter loading and a gradual drop in suction.
