Product details

The rear cover closes off the back end of a Titan T8000 bagless canister, and on a canister vacuum an outer panel like this is rarely just trim: the body it closes has to hold together tightly for the motor to pull its air through the hose rather than through gaps in the shell.

A panel that has cracked, or one that is not clicked fully into its seat, can give the motor a shortcut to draw air from the room instead of pulling all of it through the hose and past the floor tool. The machine can sound just as loud as ever while the nozzle barely lifts dirt, and that mismatch is what makes the fault easy to miss, since a clean filter and an empty bin both look completely normal.

This cover, part 591019106, fits the Titan T8000. Once the obvious causes are ruled out, meaning the container is empty, the filters are clean, and the hose runs clear, run your hand across the rear housing next, feeling for a hairline crack or a spot that will not settle fully flush.

The rear of the machine takes more incidental impact than most owners expect, from being backed into a wall or a stair riser while the canister trails behind on its wheels. A cover that has taken repeated light hits can develop stress cracks well before any single impact looks serious enough to explain a suction problem. Look at the cover under raking light from a flashlight held at a low angle rather than straight overhead, since that angle makes shallow surface cracks and stress marks show up as shadow lines that are nearly invisible in flat lighting.
