Product details
Part HS500050 is Hide-A-Hose's pre-plumb trim cover, the plate that closes a roughed-in valve opening while a house is still being built. It is a construction-stage part rather than a finished fixture, and it stays on the wall only until the valve itself goes in.
Builders pre-plumb for a retractable hose system long before anyone moves in, which leaves an open pipe stub behind a hole in the framing through months of drywall dust, sawdust, and general site debris. This cover mounts to the rough-in frame and closes that opening so none of it ends up inside the piping.
What falls into a central vacuum line during construction does not simply pass through once the system runs. Screws, drywall scrap, and offcuts settle at the first elbow and stay there, and clearing a blockage from a line already sealed inside a finished wall is far more work than covering the opening was.
Hide-A-Hose has used more than one rough-in frame across its valve lines, so check which frame your home was plumbed with before ordering rather than matching on appearance alone. If the system is already finished and you want the cover that stays on the wall permanently, that is a valve trim kit rather than this pre-plumb piece.
