A Turbo Cat EX nozzle carries no motor of its own; airflow pulled through it by the central vacuum spins a turbine inside the head, and that turbine alone is what drives the brush roll. Part 8558 is the replacement assembly.
Trouble here tends to be obvious once it starts. A worn turbine leaves the brush roll turning slower or stopping outright while suction felt at the hose stays entirely normal, or the nozzle develops a new screech or rattle as its bearings drag against the housing under load. Because the brush has no other way to turn, a failing turbine reduces the whole nozzle to a plain suction head, leaving carpet pile that should have been lifted sitting flat.
This replacement is manufactured to the Turbo Cat EX's own specification, so it drops straight into the existing housing with no modification needed. Other Turbo Cat nozzles use different turbines internally, so anyone with a different model should check the number stamped on the old part before ordering rather than assume this one is interchangeable across the whole product line.
