Product details

The Turbocat DB5000 is a bagged central vacuum power unit sized for coverage up to 5,000 square feet, sold under part number DB5000. Bagged central vacuum systems collect debris in a disposable bag inside the canister rather than a washable cyclonic bin, which keeps maintenance to pulling the bag and dropping in a new one rather than emptying and cleaning a bin by hand.

A bagged design has a real advantage for anyone sensitive to dust: because the bag itself is the collection point, opening the unit to change it disturbs far less settled dust than tipping out a cyclonic bin does. The tradeoff is a small ongoing cost for replacement bags, and suction on any bagged system will drop gradually as a bag fills, which is normal wear and simply calls for a change rather than pointing to a fault.

Changing a disposable bag typically means opening the front or top access panel, lifting out the full bag by its collar, and sealing the collar closed before removing it, which keeps most of the collected dust contained rather than airborne. Keep a few spare bags on hand once the unit is installed, since running the system with a fully packed bag is what causes the gradual suction drop that a bag change corrects immediately.

  • Part: Turbocat DB5000
  • Coverage: homes up to 5,000 sq ft, per manufacturer rating
  • Filtration: disposable bag
  • Mounting: wall- or floor-mounted power unit, typically installed in a garage, basement, or utility room

Confirm your home's actual square footage against the DB5000's rated coverage before ordering. Undersizing a power unit for the home it serves is one of the most common reasons a central vacuum feels weak at the farthest inlets.
