Part AMC81A-L0Z00 is the upper agitator holder from the nozzle housing of the Panasonic MC-655 and MC-658 uprights, and it is also listed for the Panasonic 7010. It does two jobs at once: it holds the brush roll in position, and it closes the air seal across the top of the nozzle.
That double duty is why a cracked holder is so easy to misdiagnose. The roller shifts slightly and the seal opens, so the machine still sounds strong and still holds suction at the hose, but it leaves grit in the carpet behind it. Every symptom points at suction; the fault is a piece of moulded plastic in the nozzle.
Worth checking whenever an older Panasonic upright cleans worse than it sounds. The new holder seats in the original position with the brush roll out.
