Fuller Brush Upper Cord Hoo...

Product details

Part 53.178 is the upper cord hook on a Fuller Brush FBMM-PW upright, the anchor point that the power cord wraps around at the top of the handle between uses.

This same hook is also cataloged for a few close relatives of the FBMM-PW: the Fuller Brush FBMMPWCF4 variant, the Titan T4000, and the Carpet Pro CPU1QD.

A broken or missing hook lets the cord hang loose instead of wrapping cleanly, which turns into a tripping hazard around the storage closet and lets the cable tangle or snag the next time the machine comes out. It is a small part, but it is also one of the first things to snap off if a machine gets dragged by the cord instead of carried by the handle. The hook itself takes very little load in normal use, so a break almost always traces back to the cord being yanked rather than unwound, or to the machine being lifted or dragged by the cord itself. Training anyone who uses the machine to unwrap the cord fully before pulling it taut is the cheapest way to make a replacement hook last. A hook that has developed a hairline crack near its base but has not fully snapped is worth swapping proactively, since a plastic hook already under that kind of stress tends to fail within weeks of the first crack, not months.

  • Part: upper cord hook, part 53.178
  • Fits: Fuller Brush FBMM-PW, FBMMPWCF4; Titan T4000; Carpet Pro CPU1QD uprights
  • Function: secures the cord's upper wrap point on the handle
  • Symptom if broken: cord will not stay coiled and hangs loose from the handle

Fitting the replacement mirrors removing the original: note how the old hook is secured to the handle, free it, and fasten the new one the same way. Confirm your model number against the list above before ordering.
