Wall inlets take the brunt of the wear in any central vacuum system, since every cleaning session starts with a hose end being pushed in, twisted to lock, and pulled back out. Over years of that, door springs weaken, seal faces wear, and the low-voltage contacts that start the motor stop making contact reliably.
This chrome metal inlet valve, part 015415, is built for Beam central vacuum systems. Part 015415 also works in any central vacuum system that uses a standard back-up plate mount, a design most conventional pipe-in-wall installations share regardless of brand. Its metal body holds up longer than the plastic door style it typically replaces, and the chrome face fits in well on a wall people see every day.
Replacing this valve is handled at the wall plate rather than by opening the pipe, and it is worth doing as soon as the hose refuses to lock in place, the door will not seal shut, or the motor does not reliably start once the hose is connected.
