This is the wand docking clip, part B361-5400, used on Riccar Sun and Simplicity Jill canister vacuums. Mounted on the canister body rather than on the wand or hose, it is the black plastic catch that holds the tube and its attached floor tool standing up against the canister instead of letting them trail across the floor whenever the machine gets parked.

Because this catch gets used every single time the vacuum is put away, it is usually the first plastic part on a canister to give out: season after season of snapping the wand in and yanking it free eventually cracks or shears off the retaining tab. Once that tab is gone, the wand stops clicking into place, and it will slide free or topple over the moment the canister is bumped, tilted or wheeled across the room.
