The lower wand carries air from the upper tube down to the floor tool, and this chrome-plated 19-inch straight tube is the Wessel Werk replacement, part 12.65760-000, for the Wessel Werk 1950.

It leads a harder life than the upper half. It takes the weight when the machine is dragged by the hose, catches door frames and stair nosings, and wears at the tool end where the nozzle twists on and off. A dented or belled-out end lets the floor head rock, and the leak at that joint costs you suction exactly where the dirt is.

Fit it in place of the damaged section and check that the tool locks square. Confirm the tube diameter matches your hose and floor head, since length alone does not guarantee a fit.
