These carbon brush seater sticks come four to a pack and measure 1/4 x 1/2 x 4-3/4 inches in a soft white grade. They seat new carbon brushes in vacuum motors and clean carbon buildup from the armature commutator.
A freshly installed carbon brush rarely matches the curve of the commutator, so it makes partial contact and sparks. Running a seater stick against the spinning commutator shapes the brush face and clears deposits, which reduces arcing and helps both the brushes and the motor last longer.
