Sold six to a pack, these carbon brush seater sticks measure 1/4 x 1/4 inch in a soft white grade and serve as a universal shop supply for seating new carbon brushes in vacuum motors. Seating ensures the brush makes full contact with the commutator from the start.
A new brush that has not been seated touches the commutator on only part of its face, which causes sparking and uneven wear. Drawing a seater stick across the contact surface shapes it to the commutator curve, giving quieter operation, reduced arcing, and longer brush life.
