Once the frame under a SEBO AUTOMATIC X2 or AUTOMATIC X5 has split, part 5321GS replaces it outright rather than patching it: the whole chassis, moulded in gray black to match the rest of the machine.
The chassis is the structural centre of an upright. Motor, brush roll bearings, wheel axle and the swivel neck all locate off it, and the accuracy of those mountings relative to each other is what keeps the roll parallel to the floor and the nozzle sitting level across its width. Frame damage rarely announces itself as frame damage. A boss that has split around its screw shows up instead as bristles worn down at one end of the roll, a knock that appears over floorboards, or a machine that leans and leaves a narrow strip of carpet untouched on one side. Working through those symptoms one part at a time seldom ends anywhere useful, whereas a sound frame resets all of the alignments together.
Treat the job as a transfer rather than a repair. Wheels, axle, bottom plates and the pile adjustment hardware come off the old frame and go straight onto the new one, so it is the natural moment to look each of them over with the machine in pieces. Bearings that have been running in a distorted frame often turn out to be rough as well.
